smalltown exposures
About the exhibition
smalltown exposures - an art exhibition about the skateboarding subculture of Tübingen. For many years Ken Werner portrayed the small but very active skateboarding scene in Tübingen, a provincial university town in southwest Germany. His work reveals the energy and beauty of skateboarding at the intersection of documentary and artistic photography. The 67 images of the exhibition are raw and intimate, capturing the essence of this subculture with an unrivaled level of authenticity.
The exhibition is complemented with cinematic skate videos by Frederick Schneider, another Tübingen resident. He artfully blends the grit and grace of skateboarding into visually striking narratives. Both artists share a deep love for the small town of Tübingen and - of course - skateboarding.
